“… a Wong Kar Wai film in book form.”

… resuming posts after a month. A month? Whoosh.

During the break, a handful of words from a review of Monkey Steals Plum gripped me:

“… a Wong Kar Wai film in book form.”

As a long time devotee of WKW’s work I am greatly pleased. Although I had not watched one of his films for years, perhaps decades, Monkey Steals Plum is, at its core, essentially about journeys and relationships.

So, a nod of acknowledgement to the reviewer. For beneath “the science bits” and beyond the key elements — Manchester, China; frankness, mystery — the attitude, tone, and “look” of the book is, I would agree, quite kindred to Mr Wong’s work in cinema.

Gratified. Wow.
